Dying Diversity
CO2 emissions have been causing the Earth’s atmosphere to warm up and change the climate in many ways that are damaging. By conducting my own research and working with a biologist, I found that not all the CO2 is collected in the atmosphere - at least 30% is dissolved into the ocean. Due to the drastically increasing amounts of CO2 emissions, scientists are finding frightening evidence of a decrease in biodiversity, and the destruction of the overall structure of the ocean and coastal ecosystems. Dying Diversity colorfully pinpoints which studied species will be affected in the next 100 years due to CO2 emissions. The lines demonstrate a wave-like motion, emphasizing the species (in red) where the majority of the species will not survive.
